Carol Forbes was born in Jamaica, West Indies and later immigrated to the United States. She received a B.A. in Visual Arts from Rutgers University. Ms. Forbes later attended Columbia University’s, School of the Arts Film Program and was awarded an MFA in Screenwriting. While attending Columbia, she earned honors in Advanced Screenwriting.
Her poetry and a short story has been published in several anthologies: Listen to Me: Words and Secrets from WriteGirl, Lines of Velocity: Moves that Move from WriteGirl, Untangled: Words and Poetry from the Women and Girls of WriteGirl. She was commissioned to write several animated feature-length screenplays for Santoon Productions which included: Xishi, Chinese Food, and drafted a revision of Light of Olympia. The animated feature Light of Olympia premiered at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
She has worked as a television production teacher at several New Jersey public schools. She was also an instructor and writing consultant for The Writers Circle, in addition to teaching creative writing at Theater Workshop Peppermint Players. Ms. Forbes was a guest lecturer for the 2015 Women Who Write writers' conference. She's the creator of TeenGirlsThatWrite, a blog for aspiring teen writers that frequently publishes to Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. She recently completed Bait, her first novel.
